Signature Scent

The first impression I give people is usually a lasting one, although the initial impact is usually my "inside voice" how I smell is very important to me. Whether it's in my personal or professional life I always look for my scent to compliment my large personality without overshadowing it. So to help out my brand in person I thought it was important to establish a fragrance collection and, select my signature scent.

My aesthetic is generally simple, clean, with a hint of throwback and I wanted my scent to reflect that. So, in my quest to discover my signature scent I've tested the waters across the board (thank you Sephora lol). So here are my picks for my shelf:

Scent #1: Dolce & Gabana Light Blue

Although, this one isn't my signature scent it does embody everything I look for in a fragrance. If you’re looking for a scent that isn't heavy, but will still have people intrigued this throwback is worth its weight in gold. The sweet light notes in it made it a perfect spring scent.

Scent #2: Polo Orange

Polo has always been near and dear to my heart. As a self proclaimed prepster I love the classiness polo brings to the table. The hints of grapefruit and smoked wood cuts the severe scent polo has been known for making it more of an everyday scent, just not for my signature. The marriage of the masculine & feminine elements made it perfect for Summer.

Scent #3: Bond No. 9 Black Bottle

It may seem like an odd choice to select a unisex scent as my signature but, Bond No. 9 earned it. The hints of coffee, vanilla, sandalwood, and cacao blend seamlessly with my natural scent. The price, size, availability, and slight anonymity of this brand make it a perfect choice for someone who wants something popular without smelling like everyone else. The white bottle which is very similar became a great fall scent.

Honorable Mentions:

When building your fragrance collection keep in mind your personal style, and focus less on the brand name. Expensive doesn't always equal amazing. If you would like to grab a bottle of my favorite scent click here.

Perceived Style

My name is Kevin Kamari Foreman but you can call me Kam for short. I am a New York based up and coming designer/stylist. The idea to begin blogging about fashion came about over a glass of wine with a designer friend of mine Kenny M. at the end of 2013. I was showing him some of the looks I had put together for my birthday when he turned to me and said - "you have a good eye... maybe you should try getting into fashion yourself." That's when Perceived Style was born. I have an obsession with classic American prep, bodybuilding, grooming, beauty products, and fashion in general so it was a good fit for me. Before my blogging days I used to be very depressed, very overweight, self conscious, and constantly self-defeating myself. Fashion helped pull me out of that. It taught me to live life, love the skin I'm in, and care about what's on it. So when I was creating the blog it was easy to decide what it would be about. The main focus of Perceived Style is to inspire people to be comfortable in their own skin, to smile more, and to care more about their overall appearance using tips and photos. Job History: I used to work at BFCU in bethpage long island. Now I am the creative directior/CEO for Perceived Style and a freelance menswear designer as of June 2014. Education: I went to Farmingdale College for 2 years then moved to Hofstra for the last 2 years. I presently am taking continuing classing in blogging, fashion writing, and design. Interests: Art, Fashion Shows, Menswear, Shopping, Photography, Womens Fashion, and Food/Movies.
