5 Suits To Get You Through NYFW: Men's

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that I love menswear among other things. So, of course, I was excited to hear about Fashion Week in New York is getting a week devoted to men. With all the shows on the horizon now is the best time to start getting my looks together. Along with my best friend Rose, we scoured the stores over the weekend to see what we could get on the dime, but still look chic.

We explored everything from Zara – to Bloomingdales – to Top Shop to put all of the pieces together. After grabbing as many pieces as we could afford for the day, we were pleasantly surprised with all the great things we could find on short notice… some of which we had to order for the best deal. At the end of the day we both decided to do suits which is uncommon for us but looked great! As I always have my followers backs, of course I’ll post some of my favorites in case you are scrambling to get ready like we were. All of the suits were spectacular as one would imagine, but these five really got my attention.

Without  further ado here are Perceived Style's Suit Picks to get you though NYFW:

If you haven’t had a chance to check out some summer suits being offered, take a browse around their online shops the links are listed above.

Just be sure to stay tuned, there is more to come. ;-)

Perceived Style

My name is Kevin Kamari Foreman but you can call me Kam for short. I am a New York based up and coming designer/stylist. The idea to begin blogging about fashion came about over a glass of wine with a designer friend of mine Kenny M. at the end of 2013. I was showing him some of the looks I had put together for my birthday when he turned to me and said - "you have a good eye... maybe you should try getting into fashion yourself." That's when Perceived Style was born. I have an obsession with classic American prep, bodybuilding, grooming, beauty products, and fashion in general so it was a good fit for me. Before my blogging days I used to be very depressed, very overweight, self conscious, and constantly self-defeating myself. Fashion helped pull me out of that. It taught me to live life, love the skin I'm in, and care about what's on it. So when I was creating the blog it was easy to decide what it would be about. The main focus of Perceived Style is to inspire people to be comfortable in their own skin, to smile more, and to care more about their overall appearance using tips and photos. Job History: I used to work at BFCU in bethpage long island. Now I am the creative directior/CEO for Perceived Style and a freelance menswear designer as of June 2014. Education: I went to Farmingdale College for 2 years then moved to Hofstra for the last 2 years. I presently am taking continuing classing in blogging, fashion writing, and design. Interests: Art, Fashion Shows, Menswear, Shopping, Photography, Womens Fashion, and Food/Movies.

Meggings for Spring/Summer

As some of you may or may not know it is Perceived Style's anniversary today! Yay!

:-D. To kick off the festivities I thought it would be fun to touch on a trend I have been seeing a lot of this spring. Leggings on men or meggings as some have dubbed them. Essentially meggings are a form of tights made for a man’s body and built to be a bit more durable. Meggings are a smart and versatile way to be comfortable without wearing the traditional variety of men’s pants. They are made in a variety of colors and, most times look just like the everyday skinny jean.

Granted there are some nay-sayers of course: -- Anderson Cooper called meggings "ridiculous," and someone at Buzzfeed said they "should not exist". Do they all have valid points yes, but style is all about perception and taste so there is bound to be someone who won’t be into it. I’ll admit I had just as strong an opinion about it but after wearing them to a meeting I couldn't be more thrilled. They were comfortable, surprisingly breathable, and supportive in all the right places. After slipping into them the uneasiness just washed right away and no one noticed they were men’s leggings!

That being said, if you are interested in giving them a go this spring here a few tips to help you out with your selection:

  1. Fabric- The fabric they are made out of can make or break a look. Just like with any pair of jeans you want to shop for good quality. Generally a polyester-spandex blend seems to be the most durable and chic looking - while being breathable for spring/summer.
  2. Brand- Make sure you are buying the meggings specifically made for men. Women’s leggings are generally made from thin material which could mean the difference in showing the world your undercarriage or them flat out ripping.
  3. Use- Although a slight one there is a difference between gym tights and meggings. If you are getting some to work out in make sure they lean more to spandex as polyester blends aren't great to workout in. though this is more to taste.
  4. Style- As I said it’s all about you own personal taste. If you’re looking to mix it up this spring I say try them out.

Below is some outfit inspiration to help out with pairing your meggings.

What do you wear with your meggings/leggings? Do you like the look of meggings on men?
