How was your May? Which look was your favorite?

Perceived Style

My name is Kevin Kamari Foreman but you can call me Kam for short. I am a New York based up and coming designer/stylist. The idea to begin blogging about fashion came about over a glass of wine with a designer friend of mine Kenny M. at the end of 2013. I was showing him some of the looks I had put together for my birthday when he turned to me and said - "you have a good eye... maybe you should try getting into fashion yourself." That's when Perceived Style was born. I have an obsession with classic American prep, bodybuilding, grooming, beauty products, and fashion in general so it was a good fit for me. Before my blogging days I used to be very depressed, very overweight, self conscious, and constantly self-defeating myself. Fashion helped pull me out of that. It taught me to live life, love the skin I'm in, and care about what's on it. So when I was creating the blog it was easy to decide what it would be about. The main focus of Perceived Style is to inspire people to be comfortable in their own skin, to smile more, and to care more about their overall appearance using tips and photos. Job History: I used to work at BFCU in bethpage long island. Now I am the creative directior/CEO for Perceived Style and a freelance menswear designer as of June 2014. Education: I went to Farmingdale College for 2 years then moved to Hofstra for the last 2 years. I presently am taking continuing classing in blogging, fashion writing, and design. Interests: Art, Fashion Shows, Menswear, Shopping, Photography, Womens Fashion, and Food/Movies.

Studio Hideaway

It’s official – my move is finally complete. It took 4 movers, 8 friends and two weeks to move my whole life out of Williamsburg into my new place. If only I could’ve 80s montaged it to speed all of it up, since I am exhausted! I’m excited to get back into my normal groove of things and get prepared for what will be one hell of a month. Between new opportunities and a few shoots, I will be all sorts of busy. I just can’t wait to get the ball rolling!

In between styling a new shoot with David I got to play around with a new lighting technique. The shawl neck sweater if from IZOD and the pants are from Diesel. While I was feeling my oats I came across this playlist from Kiesza. If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know I’m a huge fan….HUUUGE! (lol). If you have Spotify check it out here.

Get Ready With Me

It’s the crack of dawn here in New York and I could not be happier to have the day off! I spent all yesterday in meetings in the West Village and Soho with friends – and happened to stop by Featherweight after changing at home.

Leaving behind my sneakers for my casual Henley and jeans, I paired them with my not so casual staple Oakwood wingtips. The 508’s I’m wearing which I’ve featured on the blog before in blue are Levi’s and the accessories are all Top Man – the look is stylish, comfortable, and best of all chic.

Office Colours

We’re already a few weeks into May and I’ve already reverted back to my favorite wardrobe staples: crew neck sweaters. I nabbed these pieces online from ASOS, and had the pants and shoes in my wardrobe already. If you’ve been following me on Twitter I’m sure you know how much I love a good crew in teal, but just in case you missed it click here to check out my crew addiction.

As much as I love the spring blues on trend this season, I cannot wait till I can pack away my sweaters when it warms up here in NYC once again. What do you think of this season's color palette? In case you wanna check out the look, click the links below :-).
